Time: 1st inning – BOSOX vs. NYY
Status: RSN East Visits RSN West
Info: No interesting details to offer in this blog regarding cancer treatments, oncology reports, results of doctor visits, etc. This blog will be fast, brief and informative for a number of reasons; namely the Fox Sports presentation of our beloved RED SOX as they line up against those (use your own adjective here) New York Yankees.
I made coffee this morning, fed the Lu-dog and after running the first cup of Papa’s brew upstairs to Bonnie the next item on my agenda today included a trip to the Petaluma Recyling Center. Forty pounds of glass! How did that happen? Fourteen water bottles – I needed to empty my two buckets in preparation for the last item on the agenda … picking up Margie at SFO for her week long visit here in wine country!
Jarrod Saltalamacchia just tossed out Derek Jeter on a stolen base attempt here in the top of the 1st inning. Very nice to see a Red Sox catcher firing down to second and getting the out. That was not always the case during last season. Nice pickup Theo! The weather at Fenway Park looks idyllic, mirroring our weather out here today. You’ve probably noticed there’s not been a word about rainy conditions here in Northern California for a number of posts. Cool temperatures, beautiful sunshine and our lifelong friend has already checked in from Chicago letting us know she’s on time. Her first text of the morning instructed me to have the score of the game when we pick her up … and then a few choice letters about the Yankees. I’m doing my best to keep this blog G-rated so I’ll leave it to your imagination.
The Lu-dog is resting comfortably next to me. This is LuLu’s first season in the house where baseball, and most importantly, our Boston Red Sox takes priority over all. We’ve converted this English bulldog into becoming a Red Sox fan, something we won’t have to worry about with our next guest – dyed in the wool member of Red Sox Nation (RSN) scheduled to arrive at SFO at 3:PM today. I’ve DVR’d the game for her just in case.
As I close things out this morning I want you all to know Bonnie is doing absolutely wonderful. She’s upstairs watching the game as well and I know she’s stoked for Margie’s visit. I just heard her yell “c’mon Yuke” referring to Kevin Youklis at the plate with two runners on with 1 out in the bottom of the first … Big Papi on deck.
Margie will have to learn the “house rules” when the SOX and NYY are on the television; here’s a few of them:
1. You must stand during the entire game – yes stand. Hardwood floors? Tough – put on some shoes with some support.
2. You must wear the same clothes you had on when the first pitch was thrown.
I can hear you already – “But Paul – your wife is recovering from Breast Cancer, stand? Really?” … Rest assured – we’ve modified this rule (and only this rule) for Bonnie while she recovers.
Margie? She’ll learn.
Keep her close you guys.
